I have been lucky enough to experience a number of continental circuits while Marshaling with Wheeltorque (Sadly no longer!)

Day 3 of Les Circuits 1997 found us at Charade (Clermont Ferrand as was) the circuit is somewhat shorter than in its hey day and no longer uses the Road Section.

Standing in the Pit area was extremely nostalgic and reminded me of the scenes from the film Grand Prix where James Garner is trying to Interview Mr Yamamoto(I think?).

The return Journey was via Rheims. It was extremely sad to see the crumbling remains. However prior to our visit some restoration work had started (The Race Control building had been whitewashed) in preparation for a Retro event. Unfortunately this was never held.

Sitting in the grandstand, with your eyes closed listening to the Traffic rushing past you could just imagine Maseratis, Ferraris, BRM's etc going by. The only thing missing was the commentary. Brilliant!!
