Speciality

Does this club concentrate on one particular circuit or type of racing?

SEMSEC are committed to providing competitive, affordable and close racing for the clubmans and grass roots car racers. If you have a race car, we have a class for you to run in. We mainly operate at Lydden circuit in Kent, and have started organising meetings at Brands Hatch in Kent.

Benefits

What sets this club apart from the rest?

SEMSEC offer a discount scheme to their drivers; the more races they enter, the more they save.

This also applies to their marshals - the annual fee is just £7.50, but this can be reduced further (to free in some cases) by marshalling at their events. Every SEMSEC event marshalled in a year qualifies for a £1 discount on the membership renewal for the following year.

SEMSEC also provide free hot and cold drinks at all their meetings (hot drinks not available at Brands Hatch, unfortunately), and on their Saturday meetings, sandwiches are provided at lunchtime. There is a marshals raffle at the end of each race day; some prizes in 2005 were CD players, Scalextric sets (kindly donated by Tony Skelton) and beer (very popular!).

If you are a trainee and haven't yet got your overalls, we can lend you a pair for the day.

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month we hold a club night at the Phoenix Railway Club in River, Dover, starting at about 8pm. It's informal, and we basically get together to discuss everything and anything, to put the world to rights! All are welcome, and the beer is cheap - it's a working men's club. If you need directions or more information, please email me at johnb.semsec@btopenworld.com, or Adrian, our Chief Marshal on KathandAde@aol.com.

Training

SEMSEC hold a marshals training day every year at Lydden cirucit, in conjunction with the BMMC (British Motorsport Marshals Club). All grades are catered for, and qualify for a training signature. Fire training is provided at some of the training days. If you would like further details, please contact the Chief Marshal.

Organisation and professionalism on the day, and in dealing with your queries.

SEMSEC will try and resolve any of your queries on the day - please speak to the Chief Marshal (who visits every post during the day), or speak to a Clerk of the Course, preferably in a quiet moment!
