The Victorian Fire & Rescue Squad is a club which provides professional fire & rescue services to motor sport events.

The VFRS attends a varied range of motorsport activities throughout the year. These include Circuit Racing, Drag Racing, Hillclimbs, Speedway, World 500cc & Superbikes and the Australian F1 Grand Prix.

Our members are volunteers and are trained by the club or come from CFA or MFB backgrounds. We provide Fire & Rescue services to motorsport activities, and provide fully equipped fire & rescue vehicles as well as extinguishers.

All our members are CAMS officials and we are a CAMS accredited group.

Our mission is twofold. The first is to provide a professional quality Fire & Rescue facility for motorsport. The second is to promote awareness towards high fire protection standards necessary for the competing drivers, officials & spectators.

VFRS is the only dedicated Fire & Rescue organisation for motorsport in Victoria.

A 6 month probationary period is set up for new trainees who join the group, and during that time learn from experience race technique and protocols.

A training day is held where trainees learn how to suppress a fire and rescue techniques, after completing the day graduate to a full member.

During this time, members also obtain their CAMS officials licence with the opportunity of climbing up the grading table.
