General Notes

The VSCC is a very friendly club. They run circuit meetings, hillclimbs, sprints, rallies and trials so there is usually something for everyone. About 2 years ago they set up the marshals' guild, a part of the VSCC intended to represent marshals' interests to the VSCC commitee and any other body that needs a push in the right direction, members of the marshals guild do not need to be VSCC members only to have marshalled at a VSCC event, whatever form that took.

Speciality

Does this club concentrate on one particular circuit or type of racing?

The VSCC race 'vintage' cars (pre-1931) and post vintage thoroughbreds (good quality cars pre-1941). The club have started running a wide range of invitation races, such as the class c cars seen at donnington 2002.

Benefits

What sets this club apart from the rest?

The club always pays at least £6 day, in march there is a formal dinner for marshals who have done over a certain number of events the previous season (5 events i think). At the dinner 3 marshalling awards are presented, including an award for young marshals.

Training

The club has always run a training session at it's 'Pomeroy' meeting (at Silverstone) but recently they have organised a seperate training day. There has been suggestions of a training day mid-season although the logistics of this will have to be worked out.

Organisation

Organisation and professionalism on the day, and in dealing with your queries.

The club has a paid competition secretary as well as an 'events organiser'. Due to their work load on the day of a meeting, if you have a query about future meetings its best to ring the club office, however, if it is a marshalling query you can contact the Chief Marshal, Ray Edge.

Marshal's View

Neville Weeks would like to say "a big thankyou" to all the helpfull friends he met at last weekend's VSCC Loton Park Hill Climb. It was a most enjoyable meeting and as marshaling at post 2 on this hill give's some privileged viewing, I shall do my very best to attend again.

is there anyone able to supply me with a serviceable flameproof suit as I would be keen on marshaling unscathed for as long as possible, (I can't afford to get any uglier,) and a good low price would avoid embarrassment ( mine, of course ).
