General Notes

KRC runs the only national motorcycle road racing endurance championship in the UK incorporating six hour, eight hour and this year twenty four hour races at a variety of circuits around the country.

Competing teams comprise two or three riders with attendant timekeepers, signallers and mechanics. During races there are rider changes, refuelling and tyre stops, even total rebuilds following spills or engine blow-ups.

There are three different classes running each according to engine capacity.

Races generally start at mid-day and feature a Le Mans type sprint start as at Le Mans, suzuka and the Bol D'Or.

There is also an international flavour about the championship with teams from Iceland, France, Scotland, Eire and the Isle of Man having take part over the years.

This year we have a particular need for marshals at Brands Hatch and the Snetterton 24 hour, but all are welcome at any of our meetings - contact Robbie Higgs or Jo Marchant.

Awards are presented at each round to overall and class winners, contributing to overall placings at the end of each season.

This year KRC is running the first ever (as far as we are aware) 24 hour motorcycle endurance race in Great Britain. Details are a bit sketchy at the moment but it is definitely on for the weekend of 24th - 26th June. Friday afternoon/evening will be for practice including night-time running and the race itself will go from four o'clock on Staurday afternoon to four o'clock on Sunday afternoon (possibly three 'til three, subject to confirmation).

We need as many marshals as possible as we need to run shifts and rest periods, so if you would like to be part of a unique and historic event please get in touch with Robbie Higgs or Jo Marchant by means of the contact addresses, phone numbers or e-mails below.

Also keep in touch with things on our website www.krcendurance.co.uk.

Benefits

What sets this club apart from the rest?

KRC has a reputation for being a friendly and professionally run club that likes to look after those volunteers without whom we could not run our Endurance Championship. We can't offer glamour, fame and fortune but we can give a warm welcome to new marshals and appreciation and gratitude to our regular marshals and officials.
