Getting There

Track is located about 60 miles East of Toronto.
Take Highway 401 East, exit at Bowmanville, and take Durham Road 57 north. Turn East on Regional Road 20. Keep an eye out for signs, they are there, but some are rather small. | Added by Rich D 17/12/2004 20:58

Circuit Usage / Configurations
|
Mosport is a 10 turn, 2.5 mile, natural terrain permanent road course. Opened in 1961, Mosport has played host to Formula One, Indy Cars, Can-Am Formula 5000 and more.
Refurbished and repaved in 2000, current major Pro events include ALMS, Speed World Challenge, Grand-Am Cup, CASCAR, Canadian Superbikes & SCCA Pro Racing. A strong regional race schedule is run, sanctioned by CASC-OR, and the track is host to the annual VARAC vintage car festival.
Also on site is a 1/2 mile oval with a regular staurday night stock-car schedule, and a driver development track used for driving schools, solo competition and kart racing.

Click on the post name for details.
Corner 1 - Fast downhill right-hander at end of start/finish straight. Hold you breath on standing starts
Corner 2 - Downhill, double-apex, off-camber left hander. One of the world's most challenging corners.
Corner 2A - Bottom of corner 2. Clear up all their mess........
Corner 3 - Long right hander. Large crowds, and magnetic tire-wall
Corner 4 - Blind left hand turn, downhill. Good view of the approach to the hairpin (5)
Corner 5 - Moss Corner. In fact, 2 right handers (5a and 5B), forming a hairpin. Slowest part of the track, busy post.
Corner 5C - Left hand Kink at the start of the back straight. Fast acceleration area.
Corner 6 - Right hand kink on the back straight. Meatball/Black Flag Station.
Corner 7 - Fastest part of the circuit.
Corner 8 - Long, tightening right hander at end of straight. Very windy, and large gravel trap.
Corner 9 - Tight left hander, second part of 'esses'. Sight of many last-lap dives
Corner 10 - Final corner, right hander, and start/finish straight. Also in charge of the gate to let large vehicles across track and into the paddock.
Lunch / Circuit Customs
|
Lunch is provided, delivered to the corner. If you have a special diet, bring your own, as sandwiches are pretty much standard fare.
One evening, usually Staurday, there is a worker's "bash" somewhere in the paddock, where supper is provided for all track workers.
There is an onsite Restaurant for breakfast, and hot lunches (if you can make it there and back in time). | Added by Rich D 17/12/2004 21:08

Marshal's Perspective
|
Be prepared for a day out in the woods. Only a few corners have facilities near, so be prepared to use the woods. Some corners cannot be reached by car, so you need to be ferried out and back by track vehicles.
Comm system is landline, and very good. Race control is very reliant on reports from the corners, as they can only see the start/finish straight.
Marshals are well organised and well run, and visitors are always welcome. | Added by Rich D 17/12/2004 21:28

How to Marshal Here - Contacts

Local Accommodation
Camping
|
Plenty of free camping onsite. Marshals tend to camp in the area orund the Chalet - many locals have trailers parked there, and there is almost always a bonfire or three in the evenings. The rest of the park is one big campsite, so you can find a site to suit your particular tastes. Some spectator areas get quite rowdy late at night (Corner 3....) so be warned!!! | Added by Rich D 17/12/2004 21:10
