Getting There
|
Winton is located aprox 2 hours (200km) North of Melbourne just off the Hume Freeway between Benalla and Glenrowan (well sign posted on freeway). | Added by PVDA 25/12/2002 11:50

On Arrival
|
Turn into Fox Street and for larger or BAC run events locate the Credentials Office and sign on to collect your passes for the event. (Do not use the main public entry direct off the old Hume Hwy), for smaller events sign on is located either in the Scrutineering bay office or a seperate shed nearby (ask locals). | Added by PVDA 02/02/2005 09:43

Signing On
|
As per on arrival section. Sign on each day and then proceed into the circuit. Trackside marshalls meet at the "Old" control tower which is located near the main entrance. | Added by PVDA 25/12/2002 11:54

Circuit Usage / Configurations
|
Circuit has two configuration;
SHORT CIRCUIT which is the original 2km configuration used for some club hires and the annual May Historic meeting.
LONG CIRCUIT was created several years ago and added 3 corners to the circuit and resulted in the Start/Finish line being moved, a new Pit Lane, Race Control, Media and Corporate facilities being added over the past few years.

1 - Located just past Start Finish on Drivers Left | |
2 - Located on Drivers Right on the apex of the 2nd turn. Great view of Turn 1 action. | |
3 - Located Drivers Left just prior to the 3rd turn, has a large sand trap to catch errant cars. | |
4 - Located directely ahead of drivers as they turn into Turn 4, gets occasional unintended visitor. | |
5 - Entry to "Sweeper" which is a sweeping left hand bend around a former cricket/footy ground. | |
6 "Sweeper" - Located in the middle of the "Sweeper" turn on Drivers Left, stuff up the sweeper and you end up cutting the grass on the infield. | |
7 "Tank" - Called Tank because marshall post consists of an old water tank in the middle of a hairpin turn, Tank used to get regular visitors until track was realigned which started to throw cars into the outside sand pit. | |
8 "Cleavage" - Again inside a hairpin, Why Cleavage? Look at the track map and use your imagination. | |
9 - 3rd of a series of hairpins, has a kerb on the exit apex which high sides bikes nicely. | |
10 - Located in the run off for the old back straight on Drivers right for the left hander at the end of the straight. | |
10.5 - Only used at high profile events when there are more marshalls than required to fill available spaces. | |
11 - located at the end of a straight on Drivers Left. | |
12 - Located at the start of the pit wall at the entry end of pit lane | |
"Short Circuit" - Uses Post 2-10 only. 10.5, 11,12 & 1 are located in the extension of the circuit and are not used. | |

Check motoring association accomadation guides (RACV, RAA, RAQ, NRMA, etc).
Nearby Towns include Benalla, Glenrowan, Wangaratta. Majority of visiting (from Melbourne) marshalls stay in Benalla. Bookings up to 12 months in advance for some events (Touring Cars and May Historic Meeting). | Added by PVDA 25/12/2002 12:23
