Pit Lane - There are 2 flag posts in pit lane. One, at the beginning of the pit lane wall, adjacent to the chicane before pit entrance. The other is obviously at the start/finish line.
Grid marshals are obviously here, as well as 3 posts for fire marshals.
At larger events VFRS FIV is usually placed at the beginning of pit lane, in line with the chicane entrance (if the chicane wasn't there) with a Racesafe FIV at the end of pit lane.
At smaller events the VFRS FIV is located at the end of pit lane, with a St John first aid in the area north of Race Control

Marshal's Perspective
|
I have never worked on a flag point so I can't comment in that respect. However I have worked in the pits and can comment on that.
The pits were made to accomondate bikes, not cars and therefore when cars are using the pits (especially when they pit all at the same time) things can get very cramped.
The turns off the top of my head which attract crashes are 1, 2, 4, 8 and 10.
When it rains, it RAINS! If you're on a point, you're going to get very wet very quickly.
