Getting There

Junction 15A of the M1.
Follow the signs for the circuit - couldn't be easier. | Added by paul 05/10/2003 13:27

The new A45 makes getting ther sooooo much better, but look out for the speed er should I say safety cameras, in both directions. | Added by Vampire 23/01/2004 18:02

On Arrival
|
Go through the main entrance and follow the signs for 'Centre Access'. Turn right when through the gates and follow the perimeter road until you turn left over the track bridge.
Once over the first bridge, look to your left for the second bridge, and head towards it (turn left).
Once over the bridge, look for the portakabins on the runway [S].
Your parking permit will indicate which zone you should park in. My TOCA pass was zone J, but I ended up parking by the marshals' camper vans (zone I) [P]. | Added by paul 06/06/2002 15:21

Since the new investment by Octagon, sign-on has changed its location.
Go up the Dadford Road (that's the one off the A43) continue until you reach the circuit then turn left at the first roundabout.
You enter a very big car park.
Before you get to the 'new' main gate there is a small turning left in front of a silver building, turn there.
In front of you and slightly to the right is another silver building with the sign up saying 'Marshals Sign ON' | Added by Mark Wilson 23/07/2002 14:06

Signing On
|
For TOCA, this was in the portakabins on the runway [S].
The posts are pre-allocated. | Added by paul 06/06/2002 15:21

This season it appears that sign on will be in the paddock bar which is located next to the paddock diner. For directions see below. | Added by Chezza 03/03/2003 23:16

Circuit Usage / Configurations
|
National: (shown in purple)
Used mainly for all club meetings. Eg, VSCC, HSCC, 750, AMOC etc...
International : (Shown in green)
Used for all international meetings eg, Touring cars, F3 GT's, MG Car club.
GP Circuit : (shown in blue)
Used for big international meetings eg, F1 Grand prix, FIA GT's.
Historic GP circuit : (not shown)
Slightly different from the GP circuit, Club uses a short cut so that the corner isn't as sharp, and abbey uses the link road from the International circuit, missing out the chicane. Used for Historic GT, Sports

Lunch / Circuit Customs
|
Breakfast :
The only option inside the circuit is the paddock diner. This can be reached by continuing over the 2nd vehicle bridge towards the paddock, then
turn left just after the row of trees. For most meetings parking is available in front of the diner/bar but be prepared for silverstone security.
Another option for breakfast but only if you arrive from the M1. As you approach Towcester you come to a roundabout crossing the A5 if you turn right towards Hinckley about half a mile on the left is a greasy spoon type transport café called 'Jack's Hill Café' which offer better quality and quantity than the diner.
Bar:
The paddock bar is located next to the diner, However they tend to
close about half an hour after the meeting. | Added by Mark Wilson 07/08/2002 08:07

Marshal's Perspective
|
Quick circuit for most cars, although because of the runoff areas required for F1 some posts are quite a distance from the track, So be prepared to run.
As it is an ex airfield circuit and because of the area, expect even the slightest breeze to feel like a hurricane.
On most posts there is no where to hide so when the sun comes out you can get burned quickly so a hat and sun block are essential. | Added by Mark Wilson 07/08/2002 08:09

Showers are available in the toilet block between the main paddock and the support paddock. They are on one side of the central divide, hidden behind a door that looks like it leads to a store room. | Added by wensleydale 28/07/2005 00:12
